The Trademark Clearinghouse Certificate Authority (TMCH-CA) is set to expire on July 23rd 2023. The expiration of this Certificate Authority also requires the re-issuance of the Trademark Validator (TMV) certificate which is used for the SMD file. To ensure a smooth transition, these new certificates will be simultaneously put in place on February 15th 2023 at 18:00 UTC.

This means that on February 15th 2023 at 18:00 UTC all active SMD files will be revoked and automatically regenerated. The process of automatic revocation and regeneration lasts for a period of maximum 24 hours. Please be aware that during this timeframe all SMD files will be unavailable. For your information, there are no active Sunrise periods for New gTLDs during this period. Older SMD files signed with the current TMCH-CA will no longer be usable after the transition.

No action is required on the part of TMCH holders.

Please be aware that this only occurs every five years, and is meant to keep up with security standards.
